The Kraft-Heinz Plant in Campbell will remain open, now under new ownership. That means 125 workers can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Upstate Niagara has committed to invest $10 million to update and expand the plant. Senator Charles Schumer made the announcement Friday. Schumer says he and Governor Andrew Cuomo have worked tirelessly to keep the facility open since 2015, when the potential closure was first announced.
Three other plants across the region will also remain open. Employees say they couldn’t be happier.
“We sold the company and I’m kind of relieved that we actually sold and we aren’t closing the doors, so we can keep working,” said plant employee Shane Quick. “It’s great for everyone around. Jobs aren’t easy to find, especially the way these guys take care of us here.”
