Cayuga County seeks input on new Emerson Park playground

Emerson Park could be getting a new playground next year, and the Cayuga County Department of Planning and Economic Development is looking for the public’s input.

The new playground will be located under the cottonwood trees on Deauville Island and hopes to feature different kinds of swings, slides and climbing equipment.

The Cayuga County Legislature passed a resolution last month authorizing the planning department to apply for a $482,000 state Consolidated Funding Application grant through the Environmental Protection Fund. Should that grant be awarded when the announcement is made at the end of the year, it will go toward the new playground and other aspects of the Emerson Park Master Plan including updated walking and biking paths on Deauville Island and a pedestrian bridge connecting the island to the park’s path to Auburn High School.
