Court docs: Skaneateles boat accident victim was sucked under boat by propeller

The victim of a boating accident on Skaneateles Lake was dragged under a boat by a propeller that left gaping wounds in his arm and leg, according to statements given by witnesses.

Kyle Crosley is still recovering at Upstate University Hospital, but friends tell us he is doing well, considering the severity of the injuries he suffered. Crosley was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital earlier this week.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says his friend Erich Lindhorst, 28, of Cortland was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and operating the 19-foot boat when it struck Crosley.

In statements given to deputies, people who were on the boat give varying accounts on how much alcohol was consumed. One witness says people on the boat were drinking “but not to the point of intoxication”; another surmises that Lindhorst “had probably drank the least” because he had been on the boat for the least amount of time. One of the other witnesses, however, states “I believe Eric had around 10-11 beers” over the course of less than four hours before the accident.
