Lloyd Schwartz could have premiered his one-woman play on the life of Dr. Mary Walker in New York City or Los Angeles. Schwartz and his father, Sherwood Schwartz, were co-producers of the TV shows “The Brady Bunch” and “Gilligan’s Island,” among others.
However, he chose to do it in Seneca Falls.
“It’s the birthplace of the Women’s Rights Movement,” Schwartz said in a telephone interview from Los Angeles. “Given the subject, I couldn’t really debut it anywhere else. It’s just right to see it debut here.”
Besides, he’s never been to Seneca Falls. He plans to bring his wife with him, and he said he is “excited to get out of the LA environment and come to such an historic place for my show.”
The show uses a minimal set — a backdrop and a chair — and is meant to travel. He hopes that after the premiere this weekend, he’ll be asked to put it on in other locations.
