Solar panel field could come to Cayuga County

Cayuga County is looking at the possibility of installing solar panels on nine acres off County House Road in Sennett.

Though the plan is in its infancy, a resolution is making its way to the full Legislature to allow Chairman Keith Batman to participate in contract negotiations with a Canadian solar company while it investigates pricing and logistics for a potential solar field.

The project has been in the works since about 2014, said Steve Lynch, director of the county’s planning and economic development department. It’s part of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board’s SolarizeCNY Initiative, which the county joined in April 2016.
