Canandaigua woman arrested for falsifying public assistance docs

Investigators in Ontario County have charged 44-year-old Canandaigua resident with felony offering a false instrument in a welfare fraud investigation after they learned that the individual had filed incorrect information with the Ontario County Department of Social Services.

On July 11th, Vinice N. Burney was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing after filing an application for public assistance.

Burney said in her application that she had no bank accounts, and then added to that by asserting that anyone in her household was employed.
