Three Brothers Wineries plans restaurant on Geneva’s Linden Street

The H.J. Stead Company on Linden Street in Geneva was once an innovative optical manufacturer that held patents for advances on bifocal lenses. A century later, the creative people behind Three Brothers Wineries plan to open a restaurant that pays homage to its predecessor in the company’s former home.

Since June, they have been transforming the cozy space at 34 Linden Street, previously home to Cebo, into The H.J. Stead Company.

As visitors to the winery’s complex at 623 Lerch Road in Geneva know, owners Dave and Louanne Mansfield, along with partner Erica Paolicelli, are keen on historical themes. Its War Horse Brewing Co has a World War II motif reflected in its retro décor and the pinup-style packaging for its ciders. Head down an old dirt walking path to the back of the campus and you’ll find the Bagg Dare Wine Company, which looks like it is straight out of the bayou, replete with rusting gas pumps and vehicles.
