A date has been set for the Public Hearing on Seneca Meadows Landfill’s DEC permit renewal, which expires in October.
The August 10th sessions, which will happen at 3 pm and 6 pm respectively — are likely to draw significant crowds, as the landfilling issue has been at the center of an intense debate in Seneca Falls.
The hearing will be held at the Douglas Avery Performing Arts Center at Mynderse Academy, located at 105 Troy St., Seneca Falls.
Those looking to let their voices be heard don’t have to submit comments via traditional spoken word at the hearing, though.
Instead, residents interested in taking part can submit written testimony, which must be received by the August 18th deadline.
Speakers will not have to sign up ahead of time, or provide any legal documentation attaching themselves to the community or issue. Rather, this is an opportunity for anyone with an opinion on the matter — to let their voices be heard, according to the DEC.
A variety of supporting documents were required to be filed, and can be found here.
Those written comments can be submitted to the following address:
Kimberly Merchant, Deputy Regional Permit Administrator
NYSDEC Region 8
6274 East Avon-Lima Road
Avon, NY 14414
OR Emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org
FingerLakes1.com will have complete coverage of the public hearing on August 10th.
