Boat advisory issued for Canandaigua Lake

Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero has issued a boating advisory for Canandaigua Lake.

Sheriff Povero urges boaters to observe caution while operation watercraft on Canandaigua Lake, due to floating debris caused by recent intense rainstorms.

Boaters should operate their vessels at no more than five miles per hour within 200 feet of shore.

Deputies of Sheriff’s Marine and Recreational Vehicle Unit are patrolling the Lake, and confirm debris below the surface.

The debris is primarily tree limbs and logs that present a danger if struck by a boat.
