‘Anything Goes’ for Phelps-Clifton Springs Community Theatre’s 40th anniversary

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Community Theatre is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a production of a classic musical comedy.

The cast of “Anything Goes” will hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. July 27-29 and at 2 p.m. July 30 in the air-conditioned Midlakes High School auditorium.

The score includes such standards as “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” “Friendship,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” and the title tune. This version was originally produced on Broadway by Lincoln Center Theatre in 1987 with a new script written by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. The original play was by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.

The 30-member cast is being directed by Keith E. Childs, a Midlakes High School English teacher and artistic director of the Phelps-Clifton Springs Community Theatre. Music director is Jennifer Cornwell of Waterloo. The show is choreographed by Childs and Erin Altman of Clifton Springs.
