As an empty nester, Mark Buckley and his wife were seeking a resort lifestyle when he decided to build a home. Having always enjoyed Canandaigua Lake, Buckley, 62, formerly of Chili, decided to look to Bristol Harbour, a community on the west side of Canandaigua. The family purchased a newly built 2,600-square-foot home with a lake view for $355,000, moving into their home last October.
"It's a great neighborhood," Buckley said, noting the golf course, the lodge and the lake. "This is why we want to be on Canandaigua Lake."
The lakeside community, initially built in the 1970s, is undergoing more growth and changes with a new developer on board. New owners Todd and Laura Cook, who purchased the property in 2016, are finishing up improvements to the lodge and other facilities while adding new housing to the mix.
The resort features a golf course, restaurant and banquet facilities and marina as well as a hotel with 30 rooms in what is termed as resort living. Patio homes and terrace homes are the latest in this development, said real estate agent Anne Caprini of Caprini Realtors in Canandaigua.
