Auburn woman sentenced for fourth DWI

Maryellen Williams, of 201 Janet St., was arrested March 18 after leading police on a chase through downtown Auburn. The 43-year-old was eventually pulled over on State Street where she registered a blood alcohol content of .21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.

In July, Williams pleaded guilty to three felonies: aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She also admitted failing to obey police, a traffic infraction.

According to Cayuga County Assistant District Attorney Diane Adsit, this was Williams’ fourth DWI conviction. She was previously convicted of DWI in 2015, 2001 and 1999.
