Geneva intruder dies from injuries sustained after attempted burglary

Police say a 23-year-old Geneva man was found unresponsive after authorities were called to the scene of a burglary in progress.

The intruder, identified as Jawuan Brumfield, was attempting to break into a home on Hallenbeck Ave. in the City of Geneva. However, additional details of how Brumfield became unresponsive are unclear.

Brumfield was transported from the scene to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, according to Police Chief Jeffrey Trickler.
