A new Canandaigua fire chief is getting ready to start the job on Monday.

Frank Magnera was named city fire chief, City Manager John Goodwin announced today. He replaces Acting Fire Chief Ben Cramer, who took over the leadership of the department after former Fire Chief Mark Marentette was terminated earlier in the year.

Magnera most recently worked for Avangrid as corporate security fire protection lead analyst for the company’s New York state territory.

Magnera started his career in fire service as a fire explorer and later as a firefighter for the St. Paul Boulevard Fire Department in Irondequoit.
