Bloomfield names new school chief

Andy Doell, principal at Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, will replace Bloomfield Central Schools Superintendent Michael Midey, effective Jan. 1.

The selection of Doell was announced Thursday by Pam Nakoski, president of the Bloomfield Board of Education.

“We look forward to his leadership of our district into the future,” Nakoski stated in a release.

Midey, who is formerly of Seneca County, notified the board in mid-July that he would be retiring at the end of the calendar year.

Doell, one of 20 initial applicants, was among three finalists who visited the district last week, toured its buildings, interviewed with 22 different stakeholders on two committees, and participated in a final interview with the board.

He is a former elementary teacher in Canandaigua who previously served as principal at the Seneca Falls elementary school, Elizabeth Cady Stanton School, which, under his leadership, was named a High Achieving/Gap Closing School from 2005 to 2008 and a National Blue Ribbon School in 2010.
