Updates to Auburn’s water system more than double original cost

The projected cost to reconstruct the city’s water distribution system has more than doubled since the Auburn City Council approved financing for the project in April 2016.

During Thursday’s Auburn City Council meeting, Director of Municipal Utilities Seth Jensen said the scope of the work has expanded since last year. The additional work is expected to cost an extra $1.15 million, for a total project cost of $2.2 million.

The original scope of work included replacing pipes on North Street from Carpenter York streets and York Street from North to Wiley streets.
