The Geneva Business Improvement District announced the appointment of Mark Palmieri as the new Executive Director.
Palmieri’s first day will be Tuesday, October 10th.
According to the BID Executive Director Search Committee — a number of highly-qualified applicants came forward for the position. Committee Chairperson and Board President David Linger, of the FLounge said “We haven’t had so many great candidates for the head BID position in many years, if ever.” He added, “I know that we made the right choice.”
The BID Board unanimously approved the recommendation of the Search Committee to hire Palmmieri, who shared his excitement to begin with the BID.
“I’m thrilled by the opportunity to continue the momentum Downtown Geneva has experienced in recent years, and excited to be able to help raise it to the next level, making it even more vibrant and enjoyable.”
Palmieri serves as the Deputy Supervisor of the Town of Geneva, and aside from a short stint in Dallas, Palmieri has lived in the area his entire life.
The BID Board noted that his roots in the City and long-time resident status made him well-suited to take on the position. Linger added, “Mark knows where the downtown business district has been, where we are now, and how we can use our strengths to grow in the future.”
Linger continued, “With Mark, together with Patti Ely in BID office, we have a dynamite team that will deliver for the business district, the City of Geneva, and the greater community.”
Patti Eli previously served as BID Executive Director. Earlier this year she rejoined the BID office to continue working with the organization. “I have truly enjoyed coming back to work in the district. Downtown Geneva has always held a special place in my heart.”
