One town’s effort to limit the amount of waste headed to Ontario County’s growing landfill is about to pause for the season.
The Victor Swap Shop, which diverts usable items away from the waste stream and puts them back to work, will close on Saturday, Oct. 14, for a scheduled winter break.
Swap Shop volunteers work to reduce Victor’s landfill costs, and give Victor residents a chance to help these free items find a new home.
“Our Victor Swap Shop is a place where there are amazing finds which would have fed a landfill,” said coordinator Pat Bartholomew. “On an average Saturday about 450 items come and go.”
The price is right — everything is free — and it’s a great neighbor meeting center, she said.
