Cayuga County Legislature appoints new highway superintendent

The Cayuga County Legislature appointed Dan Bowen as the new county highway superintendent Wednesday night following the resignation of George Wethey.

Wethey, who was appointed to the post by the Legislature in April 2005, has taken a new position with the city of Auburn. He received a standing ovation from legislators and the audience at its full meeting on Sept. 26, and Legislature Chairman Keith Batman said Wethey's new position is a great opportunity.

Bowen is moving up in the department from his position as the foreman for the town of Venice garage. At a special Legislature meeting, the body voted unanimously to appoint him, with Legislators Tucker Whitman and Michael Didio absent.
