Nolan’s plan gets Canandaigua city OKs

Nolan’s is one step closer to reopening.

The Canandaigua City Planning Commission on Tuesday night gave the OK for a special use permit, site-plan review and architectural review for a $1.6 million, 18,000-square-foot restaurant project.

The owners, Nick Violas and Kate Nolan, are hoping to open in May at the same South Main Street location where their previous building was destroyed by fire in July. The restaurant opened at the location in May 2014.

The intent is to give the new restaurant building a waterfront feel, according to architect David Hanlon.

“We’re going for a little better look than before,” Hanlon told commissioners Tuesday night.
