The Landmark Society of Western New York today announced the Lehigh Valley Railroad Roundhouse in Manchester among its 2017 Five to Revive.
The long-abandoned roundhouse in the village of Manchester is one of the few remaining railroad roundhouse structures in the Northeast. The Landmark Society dubbed the roundhouse “a highly significant and rare building type, with potential for future redevelopment.”
The announcement was made at the Landmark Society headquarters on South Fitzhugh Street in Rochester. The list identifies opportunities for targeted, strategic revitalization, drawing attention to key priorities for revitalization in western New York.
