City of Auburn, BID announce downtown holiday plans

In advance of their signature holiday event, Miracle on Genesee Street and the Holiday Parade, the Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District and the city of Auburn are seeking the community’s participation in a new part of it: The Community Festival of Trees.

Fourteen 7-foot trees will be showcased on the south lawn of Memorial City Hall, and the BID is looking for businesses, agencies and other groups to decorate them. Trees and lights will be provided. The trees need to be complete by Nov. 20, and will be featured after the parade from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25. The festivities will also include choral groups and performers.

The BID and the city are also planning to decorate downtown Auburn with larger wreaths on streetlight poles, more white lights in the trees on State Street, holiday music piped through outdoor speakers and clusters of lit Christmas trees in various locations.
