Is Syracuse’s 10th-place ACC prediction the lowest ever for the Orange?

The Syracuse Orange was picked to finish 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the preseason media poll that was released by the ACC on Thursday.

The Orange is coming off a 19-15 season in which Syracuse failed to earn an NCAA tournament bid.

Syracuse lost four starters off last year’s team. Those departures are the biggest reason for Syracuse’s 10th-place prediction this year.

In the 16-team ACC, Syracuse was picked to finish behind Georgia Tech and ahead of Wake Forest.

Is the 10th-place predicted finish the lowest ever for Syracuse and its Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim?

We went back almost 30 years to find out. From 1980 to 1991, the Big East only had between seven and nine members, so we started with the 1991-92 after the Big East had expanded to 10 teams.
