Seneca Falls teen charged after inadvertently firing shotgun inside home

On Tuesday around 9:17 am members of the Seneca Falls Police Department responded to an Ovid St. address for a report of shots fired.

According to police, a 16-year-old teen, who is not being identified due to age inadvertently fired a 12 gauge shotgun inside his home. The negligent discharge resulted in a single round going through the wall of the home, traveling outside, and through two other nearby residences.

The 16-year-old was charged with two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief.

He was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charge at a later date.
