Polar Bears end Herons’ season in overtime

The No. 14 Ohio Northern women’s soccer team scored 23 seconds into overtime to clinch a 1-0 win over No. 2 William Smith College in an NCAA Tournament third round match played on Cozzens Field today.

The Herons finished their season with a 19-2-0 overall record. The Polar Bears improve to 20-1-2 this season and advance to the quarterfinals where they will face the No. 3 Hardin-Simmons. The Cowgirls edged No. 8 Carnegie Mellon 1-0 in the other third round game being played on Cozzens Field this afternoon.

Ohio Northern’s Jenna Fuller scored the game winner. She took a go-ahead pass from Sydney Leshnak and was able to capitalize on a one-on-one with the Heron keeper.
