Twins Reginald and Andy Batty have been selected to receive the 14th annual George Bailey Award at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wesleyan Chapel on Fall Street.
Reg Batty will accept the award on behalf of himself and his brother, who died Aug. 2. The Batty twins were born in 1925 and moved to Seneca Falls in 1938.
The nomination for the twins stated that, like George Bailey in “It’s A Wonderful Life,” they were “kind, dedicated, supportive, generous, compassionate and funny.” It also described how they worked behind the scenes on many community activities and were dedicated to the town of Seneca Falls.
The award will be presented by Karolyn Grimes, the actor who played young ZuZu Bailey in the classic 1946 Frank Capra movie, which will be the focus of this weekend’s annual It’s A Wonderful Life Festival. Many here believe that Seneca Falls is the inspiration for the Bedford Falls setting in the movie.
