Most anyone who has seen or heard of “A Christmas Carol” knows about Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future that visit him and try to scare him into changing his miserly ways.
But what events shaped Scrooge’s past? How did he get to the point where these ghosts came to haunt him that fateful Christmas Eve night? And what really happened to him after his redemption?
These are questions that Douglas A. Bass answers in his 376-page self-published fictional work, “Ebenezer: The True Life Story of Ebenezer Scrooge.”
“I always loved ‘A Christmas Carol’ for as long as I remember knowing about it — all of the variations of the movies, I’ve read the novella a number of times — and it just caught my attention,” Bass said. “One day, it just got me thinking. How did he get to be that way?”
For as long as he can remember, Bass, a Brooklyn native who grew up on Long Island and came to this area for college and marriage, has wanted to write. He has been practicing law since 2000, but the passion remains.
