Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports a recent joint operation between the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which promoted safe hunting.
Deputies teamed up with Environmental Conservation Officers to educate and enforce hunting laws. The following arrests occurred during this joint effort:
Clarence E. Bange, 69, of Caton was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the third degree, Unlicensed operator and two counts of failure to tag deer.
Bange allegedly operated a vehicle while his license or operating privileges were suspended due to failure to answer a summons in Corning City Court. He also allegedly possessed two untagged deer in his vehicle.
Bange was released on summons and will appear in Caton Town court January 8th, 2018.
Jeffery A. Drake, 52, of Jasper was arrested for failure to carry a hunting license. Drake was allegedly observed afield actively hunting and did not possess a hunting license.
He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Jasper Town Court January 16th 2018.
Michael S. Ackroyd, 66, of Hornell was arrested for lending a hunting license to a hunter. Ackroyd was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Bath Town Court January 11th, 2018
Johnathan D.V. Pierson, 30, of Avoca was arrested for possessing a loaded shotgun in a motor vehicle.
He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Howard Town Court December 12th, 2017
