The end of the old year is a time for celebration at the Beverly Animal Shelter. It is a time to celebrate the successful adoptions of the past, the “Happy Tails” of BAS. Sometimes, simply dropping by the Shelter for a visit will lead you to the perfect pet.
Puggle (Pug/Beagle mix) Lilly was surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. A serious looking, 4 year old little girl, she was spayed, up to date on her vaccination, housebroken and had lived previously with another dog. Lilly was just perfect for the family who had lost their older dog to cancer over the winter.
LILLY now known as LADY
Sweet Lady quickly made friends with her new housemate, 5 year old Ruby. In no time, they were best buds playing in the yard. Lady looks like a Beagle with the head and tail of a Pug. However, she has the appetite and tracking instinct of a Beagle. Lady has bonded with her new Mom. After putting on a few pounds, she has taken upon herself the job of “lookout” (the front window) when her humans leave the den.
It was love at first sight back in 2014. Charming red Sparky was such a gentleman.
SPARKY now known as SEAMUS
Seamus is a wonderful cat who has made a wonderful brother. He’s lovable and funny. Seamus is always ready for a game of chase with his brother Oliver or a game of snake (i.e. tail) in the grass with his new sister, Billie (pictured).
LAST WEEK’S PETS – All of last week’s Hunks of Kitties for the New Year, Hobart, Baxter and Academy, remain waiting to be your purrfect cat.
As a service to the community, the Beverly Animal Shelter has added a crematory for animal cremation, both individual and group. Call the Shelter at (315)539-9357 for more information.
Once again, the Beverly Animal Shelter will have a subsidized Spay & Neuter program for low-income pet owners. This is made possible by a generous Grant from the ASPCA. The Beverly Animal Shelter extends an appreciative “Thank You” to the ASPCA for their consideration.
The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.
DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER YOUR HELP TO THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER? BUT CAN’T BE AT THE SHELTER FOR WHATEVER REASON (HOME COMMITMENTS, ALLERGIES ETC.) WELL, THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO HELP. HOW ABOUT:

KEEPING THE FINGER LAKES TIMES UPDATED WITH RECENT LOST & FOUND PETS.
THESE ARE JUST A FEW PLACES EXTRA HANDS AND MINDS ARE NEEDED REGULARLY. CALL THE SHELTER AT 539-9357 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME.
Unfortunately, The Purina Pets for Seniors Fund has been DISCONTINUED. However, BAS is attempting to continue Senior adoptions on an individual basis through the generosity of others.
The Board of Directors of the Beverly Animal Shelter is working hard to give you all the information you need to properly take care of your pet. Please be advised that the Shelter website has changed to simply http://www.beverlyanimalshelter.com.
Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!
THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE PAST YEAR!!
The Shelter is no longer accepting scrap metal to recycle. However, they continue to accept returnable bottles and cans. For more information, call the Shelter at (315)539-9357. Be sure to wash out your returnables.
SHELTER NEEDS –
Seneca Falls has had a limit of only 3 dogs allowed for decades. The Town of Tyre has also joined Interlaken, Romulus, and the Town of Waterloo in setting limits on the number of dogs one individual can own. Now, for the rest of Seneca County…
Winter is here. Kitten Season (round two) keeps going! BAS needs your help! To help the Shelter out, please go to www.FirstGiving.com/bas.
Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.
Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please see Dallyn for more information.
Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
We invite you to come and meet our wonderful creatures in person. The Shelter is open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM daily EXCEPT SUNDAY and Wednesday. The store is open from 9:00 to 6:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 Saturday. Questions, call (315)539-9357 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
