Rob Richardson’s opportunity came at a conference last year.
Richardson bumped into City Manager John Goodwin and picked his brain about government and the issues facing it. He made an impression, because when an opportunity to intern at City Hall opened up, Goodwin gave Richardson a call.
Now, Richardson, who had been with the city since the summer, is assistant city manager, after members of City Council on Jan. 2 appointed him to the position.
“Overall, I feel fortunate and blessed to be part of Canandaigua and joining its community,” Richardson said. “It’s a special place.”
Richardson most recently had been working at the YMCA, where he was for nearly nine years. But, he said he was growing restless in his career.
