Tips to stay healthy this cold and flu season

Influenza is officially here. Yates County Public Health advises area residents to take steps to prevent sickness during flu season. Yates County has had 13 confirmed cases of flu reported in the first week of January. Over the last 2 weeks, provider offices have also reported increased levels of influenza-like illness and GI illness.

During winter and spring, illnesses such as the common cold, flu, and GI illness (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea) are everywhere. Germs that usually cause mild symptoms in a healthy person can cause serious illness in infants and older adults. Take steps to protect those around you who may be at increased risk of serious illness.
