One sent to hospital after head-on crash in Arcadia

Deputies say almost everyone involved in a head-on crash escaped without serious injury after an early-morning wreck on State Route 88.

The accident took place in Arcadia around 1:29 am, according to deputies, who say that one of the operators lost control of his vehicle, which resulted in it sliding into oncoming traffic.

Nathan A. Bommelje, 19, of Webster was driving south on State Route 88 when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow and ice covered road and struck a vehicle in the northbound lane.

The drivers of the two vehicles were not injured, but a passenger in Bommelje’s vehicle was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Fairville Ambulance with minor injuries.

He was charged with failure to reduce speed for a special hazard, failure to maintain lane and operating a vehicle in violation of restrictions.

The traffic charges will be answered at a later date.
