Fifty years of memories of Finger Lakes Community College — from the first students to the 2017 inauguration of its fifth president — are packed into a new commemorative book celebrating the college’s golden anniversary.
The full-page, limited-edition book will be released on Feb. 1 — 50 years to the day when the college began offering full-time, credit-bearing classes.
The book, “This Bold Decision: The Story of Finger Lakes Community College,” gets it title from an excerpt of the inauguration speech of Roy Satre, the college’s first president, and refers to the Ontario County Board of Supervisors’ vote to create the college.
It focuses on the early history of the college, originally called Community College of the Finger Lakes, and covers highlights through 2017.
More than 750 faculty, staff, students, trustees and county officials are mentioned, quoted or shown in the 124 pages and more than 300 photos.
