Changes are coming to Lake Street in Penn Yan.
A new McDonalds will be built at 235 Lake St., according to preliminary plans discussed at the Penn Yan Village Planning Board’s meeting Jan. 8, and on Jan. 25 the Yates County Planning Board will get a first look at plans to make a vacant grocery store suitable for a Dollar Tree Store.
A representative from Bohler Engieering met with the village planning board Jan. 8 to review preliminary plans to tear down and rebuild McDonalds. No timeline for the project was discussed, and no information from McDonalds was available.
Documents submitted to the planning board say the new restaurant will be about 1,000 square feet larger than the current restaurant. It will have a brick exterior with stucco and tile accents. The building will be closer to Lake Street, with parking on the sides and at the back of the property. The drive-through lane will be expanded to a double lane concept, based on trends toward mostly drive-through business.
