Local officials and stakeholders are working on many projects to address harmful algal blooms in Skaneateles Lake, and one could be a pollution mapping diet similar to one being created for Owasco.
The town of Skaneateles, the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board, the Skaneateles Lake Association, and other officials are in discussion with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to develop a Nine Element Watershed Plan, or 9E Plan. The plan is meant to reduce nutrient loading in the lake.
The watershed updates came at a Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday afternoon at Finger Lakes on Tap. Paul Torrisi, president of the Skaneateles Lake Association, gave guests an overview of the health of the lake and updates on tackling algae and invasive species.
