Rochester man drove drunk, crashed on Rt. 31 in Arcadia

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Rochester man for driving while intoxicated following the investigation into a crash on State Route 31.

Deputies say Ion M. Walker, 22, was involved in a one car crash on State Route 31 in the Town of Arcadia. He was traveling west on State Route 31, lost control, and went off the south side of the roadway.

The vehicle struck a roadside marker and a ditch before coming to rest on its side in the ditch.

Upon further investigation it was determined Walker was intoxicated and was operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license.

He was arrested and transported to the Sheriff’s Office where a chemical test was administered. Deputies say Walker had a BAC of .16 percent.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or higher, failure to keep right, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and unregistered motor vehicle.

Walker was released on appearance tickets and is to appear before the Town of Arcadia Court at a later date.
