Investigators in Ontario County arrested a 51-year-old Rochester woman following an investigation into welfare fraud, which resulted in the uncovering of more than $2,500 in illegal benefits.
Laurie M. Schmeer, 51, was charged with one count of welfare fraud and nine counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
It is alleged that Schmeer received $2,513 in SNAP and Medicaid benefits that she did not deserve. She is further accused of filing false documents with the Department of Social Services pertaining to household size and income.
