Four area schools were among the 155 high achieving and high progress schools identified as Reward Schools by the New York State Education Department.
Commissioner MaryEllen Elia announced the Reward Schools Thursday, which included Lansing High School, Maine-Endwell Senior High School, Owego Free Academy and Vestal Senior High School.
“We are extremely proud of Principal Thomas Burkhardt and the entire faculty and staff for their continued demonstration of excellence,” said Maine-Endwell Central School District superintendent Jason Van Fossen in a statement. “Being named a Reward School validates our staff’s commitment to academic excellence and their tireless efforts to ensure all our students succeed. As a school community, we couldn’t be prouder.”
Elia will reward each school with a certificate of achievement.
