‘Fire and Ice’ and good times in Canandaigua

Fire and ice paired well on Saturday for the annual Fire and Ice Festival in downtown Canandaigua.

Chilly, but not too chilly, weather and no rain proved a fine fit with the several hundred people who came out for the event.

Seeing large crowds of people enjoy the various events — including a fire-building competition put on by the Finger Lakes Community College Woodsmen team, appearances by the cuddly giant malamute dogs and puppies, ice sculpture contest, various store sales and events and more — was really cool, said Denise Chaapel, manager of the downtown Business Imrpovement District.

Bristol Mountain also sent a team to help kids enjoy snowboarding on a small patch of snow.
