With a new 25-percent-off coupon in hand and money in her pocket Thursday night, Carol MacInnes pulled into the same Route 96 UNO Pizzeria & Grill she’s been patronizing for years.
This time the parking lot was deserted and the building dark and stripped of its signage.
The longtime Victor resident said her coupon had just come in the mail, and she and a friend were looking forward to a nice dinner. They weren’t going to find it at their neighborhood UNO.
“Isn’t that something,” MacInnes said, shaking her head. “They’re always very popular, always busy. I’ve never seen them empty.”
According to Victor Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mitch Donovan, the restaurant had been serving meals, hosting fundraisers for school groups and nonprofits, and giving back to the community for 23 years. But its doors were shuttered abruptly Friday night, Feb. 23.
