A Syracuse firm with a background in housing development could soon be the new owner of the historic Main Street School.
At Monday’s school board meeting, Sue Kimmel of Lakewood Development and Two Plus Four Construction will outline Lakewood’s proposal to acquire the vacant school, built in 1928, and convert it to housing units.
Later, the board will consider accepting an agreement giving the company an option to purchase the school, which abuts LaFayette Park on West Main Street.
According to its website, Lakewood Development II LLC was founded in 2013 by Kimmel and Peter Wilson as a continuation of Lakewood Development LLC, which was formed by Kimmel and David Bacon in 2003. The company states that it has “extensive experience in real estate development of school conversions, having produced satisfactory results on several school conversion projects.”
Lakewood is affiliated with Two Plus Four Construction Company. According to its website, Two Plus Four was formed in March 1977 and has developed and constructed numerous diversified types of housing.
