Persuasive Victor student earns sweet reward

Second grader Reese Sierens tasted first-hand the power of a well-written letter. She’s got teacher Jennifer Cole to thank for that, along with the responsiveness of UNO Pizzeria and Grill corporate executives.

On Monday, Reese and 20 of her classmates at Victor Primary School were treated to a make-your-own sundae buffet, served by UNO Regional Marketing Director Ann Kabel and former Victor General Manager Mike Wurstner.

Cole said the class had been studying different types of writing, and was challenged with writing a persuasive letter to their parents. Those who finished early could go on to write a letter to a company, urging changes or improvements.

“I thought I’d write to UNO’s and say a couple of things I thought about the kids’ desserts,” said 7-year-old Reese on Monday, her spoon poised over a bowl heaped with ice cream and assorted toppings.

“All they used to have for kids’ desserts was vanilla ice cream and a make your own sundae,” she said. “I thought maybe they could have different flavors, because some kids were getting sick of just that.”
