Jonathan Trichter, who said last week that he is preparing to challenge state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, is inching closer to formally declaring his candidacy.
Records show Trichter created a campaign committee, Trichter for New York, to run for state comptroller. He registered the committee Thursday, according to the state Board of Elections.
Trichter’s interest in the race for state comptroller was revealed last week by New York Republican Chairman Ed Cox. During an appearance on “The Capitol Pressroom” with Susan Arbetter, Cox named Trichter as the party’s potential candidate to challenge DiNapoli.
