Cold, and preferably snowy.
That’s how Greg Constantino, one of the organizers of the Canandaigua Polar Plunge, hopes the weather forecast reads this coming Saturday.
The AccuWeather extended forecast for Canandaigua calls for a sunny day in the low 40s that day. In other words, probably cold enough.
The annual plunge into the frigid waters of Canandaigua Lake is making a return to Kershaw Park, with plungers, as they’re known, hitting the water at noon. The band of c-c-c-cold to the bone swimmers will be led by members of law enforcement and a bagpiper.
“I think it’s going to be perfect,” Constantino said. “The people who do this are crazy. They prefer the cold.”
Earlier this year, City Council gave the go-ahead for the event’s return, which in recent years had been held at Onanda Park in the town.
