After a three-day jury trial in Seneca County Court, David Brownell, 54, of Waterloo was found guilty of third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony, and two counts of petit larceny, class A misdemeanors.
Brownell was charged on December 7th, 2016 by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation into the theft of lawn equipment and building materials from two residences on State Route 89 in the Towns of Fayette and Varick.
The NYS Division of Parole assisted in the investigation. He was convicted as charged in the three-count indictment. At the time of the crimes, Brownell was on parole supervision. He has over 20 prior convictions.
County Judge Dennis F. Bender presided over the trial. Seneca County District Attorney Barry Porsch prosecuted the case. Brownell was represented by Sodus attorney Edwin P. Frick.
Sentencing will take place on April 23rd, 2018.
