The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Andrea Deckert as the newest addition to the Chamber’s growing team. Deckert will be joining the Chamber starting in April as its Member Relations Specialist, a new position that was created in early 2018 to meet the demand for the Chamber’s growing membership. The Chamber began its search for candidates in February, receiving over 30 applicants and held three rounds of interviews, before a hiring committee unanimously selected Deckert to fill the role.
With nearly two decades of experience in the media relations and journalism industries, Deckert has held positions as a reporter for the Rochester Business Journal and Finger Lakes Times, and most recently worked in sales and marketing for a clinical trials lab in Rochester.
“We are very excited to announce this expansion of our team,” stated Miranda Odell, Executive Director for the Chamber. “Andrea’s skills and experience will allow her to transfer seamlessly into this position, where she’ll be working closely with our Chamber members and community partners,” she added.
In her new role, Deckert’s duties will focus on the programs and services that the Chamber provides for its member businesses and organizations, including membership outreach, digital and print content creation, as well as support with the Chamber’s ongoing special events and networking functions.
A lifelong resident of the Finger Lakes, Deckert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Communications from St. John Fisher College and an Associate’s Degree in Communications from Finger Lakes Community College. She is looking forward to meeting the various businesses that make up the Chamber’s membership and immersing herself in the Geneva Chamber community. Deckert lives in Clifton Springs with her husband, Brian, and their three sons.
