Assemblyman Gary Finch has unfinished business in Albany.
Finch, R-Springport, said in an interview with The Citizen that he is running for re-election to represent the 126th Assembly District. The district includes the city of Auburn and the southern half of Cayuga County. Portions of Chenango, Cortland and Onondaga counties are also in the district.
There are several issues Finch wants to continue working on in the state Assembly. The number one priority, he said, is water quality. Algal blooms in Cayuga, Owasco and Skaneateles lakes have caused concern. Elevated levels of toxins from algal blooms were found in the Owasco Lake drinking water supply. The state has helped local governments address the problem and launched a $65 million initiative to eliminate the blooms.
