Citing a dwindling savings account and declining membership, Geneva American Legion officials are looking to sell the longtime headquarters on Lochland Road.
In a letter sent to Winnek Post 396 members earlier this month, Commander Dale Mosher and Dan Hurdle — chairman of the Legion’s building committee — said the executive committee has decided to place the post home and property on the market.
“Over the past several months it has become increasingly difficult to cover expenses without ‘borrowing’ from our post savings account,” the letter said.
According to the letter, the post finance report for May 2017 showed the account balance at slightly more than $123,000. The February 2018 report showed the balance at just under $92,000.
Bell jar receipts are also in a period of decline.
