Wine tasting was abundant along nearly 80 miles of Cayuga Lake over the weekend as 14 local wineries participated in Cayuga Lake Wine Trail's 26th Annual Wine & Herb Festival.
Each of the participating wineries highlighted a vegetable or an herb that helped set the scene — not only could guests take home a potted herb or vegetable, they also got to sample a recipe featuring the highlighted ingredient at each winery. The herb- or veggie-prepared cuisine was also paired with a complementing wine.
Guests also enjoyed additional wine tastings, souvenir glasses, and a booklet featuring all the recipes sampled throughout the weekend as well as tips for growing their new herbs and vegetables. The take-home plants scattered along the 2018 wine trail included: celery, bell pepper, jalapeno, roma tomato, oregano, basil, arugula, lavender, eggplant, sage, cilantro, fennel, marjoram, and chives.
