SP: One Ithaca man faces rape, kidnapping charges; second accused of hindering prosecution

Two Ithaca men face charges in connection to a kidnapping, rape and domestic assault case in Tompkins County, according to New York State Police.

Troopers say Ezra N. Broadwell, 23, faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree menacing. Those charges come after what troopers are calling a domestic assault at a home in the town of Danby, which began in the early morning hours of April 29 and continued through the afternoon of April 30, according to state police.

Investigators said Broadwell and the victim knew each other.

Ezra’s father, 54-year-old Kenneth M. Broadwell, also faces a second-degree hindering prosecution charge, state police said. Details about what prompted that charge were not immediately disclosed.

Ezra Broadwell was arraigned and ordered held at the Tompkins County Jail without bail, state police said. Kenneth Broadwell was released on an appearance ticket.
